01What the decision system checks
Application data can be checked through secure service interfaces against identity, affordability, fraud-prevention and lending criteria. A missing or inconsistent result may require manual review.
The automated response must be read together with any verification request and the final status shown in the application journey.
02How a soft search fits the process
Where the application journey identifies a search as a soft search, it is used for eligibility or assessment without being visible to other lenders. The application must state the search type before it is performed.
A later stage may involve a different credit-file check. Customers should rely on the disclosure shown in the application rather than assuming that every check has the same effect.
03An initial response is not funding
After approval, the agreement must be completed and remaining checks satisfied. Only then can payment be instructed.
The receiving bank and payment network can affect when funds become visible.
